The Hike

Beginning at the parking lot for Strawberry Flats, I hiked along the Skyline trail toward Snow Camp Mountain. The trail is well-established and very easy to follow.

After ascending through mature forest, the trail starts to transition into sub-alpine.

Emerging into the alpine, the views begin to open.

After passing by Snow Camp and Lone Goat, the trail descends toward Camp Mowich. Along the way, I saw extensive alpine meadows.

Camp Mowich is rustic with an outhouse, bear cache, camp sites and a small shelter. On this trip, there was a brief intense thunderstorm and the small shelter proved useful.

There were plenty of blueberries to eat! Very tasty!

Final Thoughts

The hike to Snow Camp mountain, Lone Goat mountain, Camp Mowich and Hozameen Ridge is worthwhile. There are plenty of beautiful views along the way. The blueberries are plentiful and tasty. After hiking along Hozameen Ridge, I stayed the night at Camp Mowich. For those wishing to scramble Hozomeen mountain (northeast ridge class 4), Camp Mowich may provide a good base camp depending on availability of water.
