Frosty Mountain
Frosty Mountain is located in Manning Provincial Park. Frosty Mountain has two summits. The lower eastern summit at 2,409 metres and the western summit at 2426 metres. The western summit is the true summit. This post describes the classic hike to the eastern summit. According to my Coros Pace 3 watch, the hike was 21km with 1260 metres of elevation gain.
The Hike
The hike to the eastern summit of Mount Frosty starts nearby Lightning Lakes. We parked near the Lightning Lakes day use area. Due to the popularity in the fall months, it is likely best to arrive early.

The trail ascends through the forest at a fairly easy grade.

Periodically, there are views of Lightening Lakes below.

On this particular day, the trail was covered in snow. Micro spikes were helpful.

The golden larches...

After crossing the plateau of larches, we started the hike toward the ridge leading to the eastern summit of Mount Frosty. The ascent was a bit slippery in places so micro spikes were helpful.

Final Thoughts
We hiked to the eastern summit of Mount Frosty in October. This hike is particularly popular in the fall. People enjoy seeing the golden larches. While there were many people on the trail, it was still worthwhile to visit the larches and hike to the eastern summit. With that said, it is likely best to pick a day mid-week if you prefer an experience with fewer people.
